Organized American religion, despite the danger from atheist bloggers and unfriendly court decisions, still remains under more serious threat from its age-old adversary, weekend football of all varieties, which keeps kids in the parks with their teams and Dads and many Moms in their easy chairs while they all should be–at least for and hour or so each weekend–in their respective places of worship.
As heady as the challenge of atheism may be, weekend football is still organized American religion’s greatest adversary. It’s time for the clergy and the coaches to renew their acquaintance about–in the immortal coaching parlance–this basic fundamental.
