Pope Francis Links the Eucharist with Finding Christ in Those in Need

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013

CNS provides a beautiful vignette from 10/30/12 of pastoral teaching to children by Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis:

During his homily, he encouraged children to “seek after Jesus” and to find Him by “opening your hearts,” participating in the Sacrament of Holy Communion and seeing Him in those in need.

“Who told us that we can find Jesus in those most in need?” the cardinal asked. “Mother Teresa,” the children shouted in response.

“And what did Mother Teresa have in her arms? A crucifix? No. A child in need. So, we can find Jesus in each person who is in need,” he said.

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

On 3/16/12, HHS announced an update of the “accommodation” on sterilization, abortifacients, and contraception, which unfortunately still does not respect religious freedom. This document is slated to be published in the Federal Register on 3/21/12. The draft is here, for prior public inspection.

Here is the official 3/21/12 posting of the revised HHS accommodation.

Here are related CNS News stories from 3/21/12 and from 3/16/12.
